Common Questions
Find answers to the most frequently asked questions about my services and how I can help you achieve your goals.
Where are the sessions held?
There are options. We can do online, via zoom. Depending on where you are based we can do in person sessions. I’m looking for different therapy rooms available across the city and surrounding area. We can also do walk and talk sessions in parks and other open spaces in Sheffield.
How long and often are the sessions?
Sessions typically last for 50-60 mins but they can be shorter.
Weekly sessions are recommended but there is flexibility to do fortnightly or monthly sessions depending on what you prefer and need support with. It’s beneficial to give you more time between sessions to practice what you’ve learnt. We can discuss which approach is best for you.
Are the sessions confidential?
Yes – all sessions are entirely confidential. Building trust is key for any coaching relationship. If any safeguarding issues come to light, I’ll explain what steps would then need to be taken and why.
Building trust with you and/or your child is key — it’s what allows real progress to happen.
With your, child the sessions are confidential, unless your child agrees to share something with you, or I have a safeguarding concern. If it would help you to know something, I’ll always aim to find a way to share it together, in a way that feels safe and supportive for everyone.
There is comprehensive professional and public liability insurance cover in place.
How many sessions do I need?
We’ll always plan to keep the number of sessions to a minimum. It all depends on what you need help with. It’s about giving you the tools and techniques you need to be your best version of you, so you no longer need the sessions. Once you’re unstuck and empowered – you’ve got what you need to use in the future. The programmes are for a specific length of time – have a look. Any questions please ask.
How do I know if it’s right for me or my child?
Book a complimentary discovery call. In this introductory session you will be able to ask me any questions you have, raise any concerns and get a feel for how things would progress. You get to interview me. It’s important for you and/or your child to be comfortable with me. If I’m not the right coach for you, I will be happy to refer you on to another coach.
What are the sessions like?
There is never a one size fits all in coaching, so all sessions will be different. We are all unique. No tick boxes here. As a general rule we’ll often start with finding out about other, learning about what the issue is, covering about how the issue is impacting you or your child. There is a gentle framework of checking how you or your child is feeling at the beginning and end of each session – we will be solution focused and ensuring you and/or your child feel empowered. We’ll use simple and effective techniques that help.
Do I stay with my child or teenager?
I always believe all clients are unique so it’s completely dependent on how comfortable you and your child will be. You will often find that your child, whether young or during teenage years often tend to open up more without a parent present. Giving your child the choice can often help them feel a level of control that they need to step into a space that’ll help them grow and engage with the coaching. We can discuss during the discovery call. We will find a solution that works best.
